This year’s event was bigger than last year’s with over 600 guests in attendance. In addition to the honorees and their supporters, members of the superintendent’s cabinet, school board members, administrators, teachers and staff, and past PTA Council presidents attended.
Among the many recipients that evening, the Plano ISD Council of PTAs honored Dana Bilbray, Plano ISD Council of PTAs Volunteers Chairman, with the Texas PTA Extended Service Award (for being a Texas PTA Life Member with over ten years of service in the Texas PTA) and Mark Wellborn, PISD Director of Professional Learning & Advanced Academics, with the Texas PTA Life Membership for outstanding service to Plano ISD’s youth.
Extended Service Awards were also given to Beth Brown by the Jasper High School PTSA, Laura Dolan and Carolyn Keeter by the Shepton High School PTSA, and Pam Griffitts by the Plano Senior High School PTSA. The National Life Achievement Award, the highest award given in PTA, was conferred upon Mary Alice Skaggs (who was unable to attend) by the Skaggs Elementary PTA.
